Yet another new look
Well wouldn't you know I got distracted form work to give my profile a touch of the summer warm. This Drupal theme (called TypeCard) is the latest look for my front page, quick, simple and to the point. Hope it pleasant on the eyes!

Penguins and Covers
Well it looks like the good people over at penguin books liked my design, in fact they when as far as to shortlist me (take a look). I am flattered, really, this is what they sent me (the really good bit, the feedback).
We think this is a great cover and very thoroughly realised. It may be that it cannot be improved, but for the sake of trying something we wondered if David could consider whether introducing a degree of the anarchy from the story into the design might (or might not) make the cover work even harder? Also, perhaps the titling is a little cramped and Ken Kesey’s name could be slightly less secondary. A solution might be to reduce the number of extra lines in the title area – if it looks right? And, perhaps the quote could be slightly more prominent, and ‘Guardian’ less prominent.

Commerce hits the streets
Security, its the key to so much we do in todays world, we guard out money, our informational and so its natural that we should be careful. With the increase in the need for records and the decrease in cash the world of online and even mobile commerce. We have seen square and it's competitors in the US but now PayPal is jumping into the ring with there service, PayPal Here.
Now square was criticised by not encrypting your cards information in the reader but at the end of the day you are still using someones mobile and with both ios and android its a big pool to play with.
So why not stay online... well its not a bad idea, you generally have more security but you still have to have it shipped. As a company you know you need to send packets so my top tips are the following.
- Call up Royal Mail (01752 387112) and talk to them, there still the biggest in the UK
- If you go with them, get yourself a franking machine
- Compare the prices now, look at the normal
Remember that if you are planning on keeping credit card details on on your server/website (and I do not advice that you should for most) you need to be PCI.

DoodleBite Creative Studios (DoodleBite CS) [News]
DoodleBite is my developing creative studio devoted to design and the quality and ethical work that it includes. In preparation for this I when and purchased some goodies to help the project along with the new domain of doodlebite.com (previously unavailable when I registered doodlebite.net). I have been working be hind the curtains to try and make this as amazingly to look at and also provide a steady bace on which to develop on the years to come. I also have made some decoctions and have decided that LCN will be my supported domain company. My interaction with LCN (or Telvo as it was once called) have been my domain provider for many years now and I am proud to recommend them as reliable, creative and trustworthy company. It may not be as largely known as some of them but don't be fooled, when I last registered a domain 20th May 2011 they were serving over 737,000 assuming I interpreted there URL system correctly. .... read more »

The new website for Michael Humphries to co-inside with his lead role as "Peter" in the Gordon Craig Theatre's musical production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
This site has been designed as a replacement for his previous site PuppetBoy (http://puppetboy.co.uk) as it was proving to have too many options that discouraged him from updating it. This new one works from the design brief that it must be

BlueWash & SunSand- Wateringbury Church's New Website
For some time now I have been working on a new look and system for St John the Baptist Church in Wateringbury, Kent. Today the new site final goes live after a long number of months work by many people. The over all finish is nice and I did find it extremely challenging to find a style that I felt worked for the church. I have personally visited this church before and have found it to be a fantastic place, even if you are not religious like myself, it is well worth a look if you are ever near there.
It was hard to find a feel of what the site should look like, my previous designs had all been far too modern and since this church has so much character I wanted to work that in to the design. I first had a go and drawing up ideas almost a year and a half ago. I came up with these ideas below.
Nether of these would work however as they only had minimal updating ability and more control was needed. So I started to work on a Wordpress powered site for them. This would allow for a much more controlled site and providing function as well as looks for the site. My first attempt I wanted to work with warm creams and add more of a glow to the over all feel to the site. .... read more »

Gallery comes to Coda
I have just finished playing around with a Gallery2 and Drupal integration that is now live on http://coda.org.uk/gallery with some nice functions all packed it. The main ones are (but fairly standard),
- Commenting
- Rating
- Uploading (for Coda Staff)
- On site editing
- Mass Upload
- Auto resize
- Gallery Remote
- Watermarking with a customized design
and as a separate installation it only added a fraction of weight on to the Drupal footprint.
